Self-care is very important especially when we just want to feel good. You can feel good by just simply taking care of yourself! Yes, I said it! The fastest and most effective way to achieving your best self is actually slowing down and indulging in ourselves a little and vowing to take better care of yourself—physically, emotionally, professionally & romantically—can make it extremely easier to get to that place you want to be.
1| Take an hour a day off Social Media
Social media can be very useful when connecting to the people you need to. But giving an hour a day to your self can help when engaging with others, other than engaging with media. You will find that social media didn’t really need you for that hour anyway.
2| Book a date with yourself once in a while
Book a date with yourself- Walk central park, see a movie, take an art class, or go out with your friends. Taking that time to have fun and live life is exactly what you need to do to be happy.
3| Stay in more
Stay in more and enjoy the quietness you deserve! Run a warm bath, give yourself a spa day and feel pampered in your own home with no one around. Watch those Netflix movies that were just added and before bed read a book– This is your day!
4| Weigh yourself less
Though it can be tempting to weigh yourself every time you see that scale, just don’t. A study in the Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior found that women who weigh themselves often have a worse body image, lower self-esteem, and higher likelihood of depression. Don’t let the scale beat you, you beat the scale.
5| Practice gratitude
“So often, we focus on what is wrong—which makes us feel worse—as opposed to what is going well, which makes us feel happier,” says Lombardo. “But research shows that when we experience gratitude, the stress centers in our brain actually decrease their activity.” In fact, giving gratitude daily is one of the most common pieces of advice we hear from happiness researchers. You can write out an actual list if you want, but Lombardo has a quick-and-easy trick, too: Every time you brush your teeth, look at yourself in the mirror and think of at least one thing your appreciate in your life. This can be anything from the sun finally coming out, to your new Birchbox mascara, or hitting your PR on last night’s run. Even stopping to list what you’re grateful for just once a week can help you feel more optimistic and better about life, according to a study in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology.
6| Workout at least three times a week
Workout at least three times a week to feel good inside and out. Set up days and times during the week to work out and feel good, include some of your friends and make it fun. Encouragement from the ones you love will help you achieve your goals of getting to that ideal weight you dreamed of being!
7| Be more positive at work
When you go to work– start with a positive attitude. When you come to work negatively it only makes the rest of your day negative as well. “We make the decision every single day about where to focus our energy—either on the negative things that just drive us crazy or on the things that are going well and make us happier,” says Karlyn Borysenko, Ph.D., owner of mindfulness workplace training service Zen Workplace. Focus more on the positive things and being positive will come very easily for you.
